Birding and Wild Plants in Panama –
Speaker: Helen Stewart.
Please join us for an interesting and informative presentation on February 7. Our speaker, Helen
Stewart, discovered bird-watching during her 13 years of working offshore on research ships,
which led her to discover an interest in native plant gardening and gardening for wildlife. She
likes to visit local gardens when she travels, and enjoys talking with other gardeners about
plants.
Helen lives in Houston’s Second Ward neighborhood. Her garden has mature fruit trees, a pocket
prairie, way too many cactuses, and a resident mockingbird who scolds her when she is weeding.
