CONVENTION #2

Texas Garden Clubs 98th Spring Convention** – Tuesday, April 7 to Thursday, April 9
Houston Marriott North, 255 North Sam Houston Parkway, Houston TX
** Hosted by District IV of TGC
More information, including the schedule of events can be found on the Registration Form.
As hosts of this state convention, we all need to help out. Here’s how you and your clubs can help:
Sign up to volunteer at the convention. Here’s the LINK to the volunteer signup. Please consider
this!

  • Donate an item (or two) for the silent auction (similar to the district convention ideas–baskets,
    gift items, etc.).
  • Purchase an ad in the convention program. Click for Convention Ad flyer. Ads are $25, $50, and
$100 and can recognize a club anniversary, celebration, upcoming event, etc. Contact Pam Randall
at Ads4TGCconvo2026@gmail.com or 281-543-5889 for more information.
  • Donate items for the convention goodie bags. See the list of suggestions. Approximate number
needed is 120-150. Check with Convention Chair Cindy Heckaman (heckamancindy@gmail.com
or 832-654-0070) to see what items are still needed and the best way to get your items to Cindy
(Federation meeting, Amazon delivery to Cindy’s house?). I’m sure I heard the Eyeglass Cleaning
    Wipes had been donated.
    OTHER NOTES:
  • When registering, be sure to look at Page 2 for the Schedule of Events. For example, Day One

(Tuesday, April 7) is really just for State Officers. Even if skipping Tuesday, a full convention registration of $45 is cheaper than paying two $30 day rates.

  • For non-TGC officers, you might consider joining the convention at the Wednesday luncheon, featuring John Thomas of Wildseed Farms. Brenda Pearson’s Zentangle Art workshop is also on

Wednesday. (Jen Hyde be there! After the Federation workshop, she felt like an artist!!) The dinner
will be for everyone. (Lunches and dinners have an additional fee.)

  • Thursday is a full day for everyone. Youth awards at lunch with adult awards that evening, along
with the memorial service, general assembly, a felt flower workshop, and more. Great vendors to
visit and the silent auction items to bid on.
  • Consider getting a group together from your club and sharing a hotel room. It does make it easier
to be at the hotel, but many in our area will be carpooling each day.
  • March 23 is the registration deadline for both the hotel and the convention.
REMEMBER: District IV is hosting this convention, and as members of District IV we
should FULLY support the Convention and the planning committee! With 10 districts in Texas,
Houston won’t be the convention home again until 2036!
