February 9, 2024 – Federation Meeting:  “Recycle, Repurpose and Reuse to Reduce: Making Informed Choices,” presented by Eleese Lester-Baier, Lakewood Forest Garden Club.

February 9, 2024 – Federation Workshop: “Kitchen Herbs (in your own container), $20.00, contact Angela Roth, Federation Workshops, (713) 569-2342, angelarothnews@gmail.com. The workshop is held after the February general meeting adjourns, usually around 11:30 am, either in the same meeting room or in an adjacent room. Bring your own container, all other supplies are provided.

HOUSTON FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS UPDATES

As a member of Gardeners by the Bay, you are also a member of the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs. Meetings are held second Fridays each month, September thru May, where food and hospitality is provided by local garden clubs; where programs on gardening and floral design are presented, with speakers coming from areas all over Texas; and, in addition, where you can participate in workshops on crafting, floral design, and officer training. Meetings are held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 5308 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, 77005 beginning at 10:00 am. Carpooling can be arranged by contacting Leslie Wong, GBTB’s Federation Delegate, cell 281-935-6442. Please leave a voicemail.

“Holly-Days HFGC Christmas Brunch Gala:” Friday, December 8, 2023.
“Traditional with a Twist,” program features Karen Pollard, owner of Peony Perfect Designs, presenting fresh flowers and greenery for the “Holly-Days.”  Designs created during the program will be available for purchase during the Gala. Wassail and cookies, a Christmas Brunch, drawings, door prizes, and a Silent Auction will be enjoyed at the Gala.

Event tickets are pre-purchased for $40 per person for the program and brunch. Tickets usually sell out by November. Tickets are required to attend the Gala. To purchase tickets, contact: Linda Kuper, Federation Gala Tickets, email: kuperfamily80@gmail.com.

New Toys and Gift Cards (Walmart, Target, Kroger, HEB) are requested for Star of Hope residents and children. Bring to Ann at the Gardeners By The Bay meeting on December 6th.

Gardening Seminar – Wild About Wildflowers

The Texas Fruit Conference is a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension event aimed at educating new and experienced fruit growers through classroom instruction, experiential learning, and peer-to-peer networking. 

Attendees who register for In-Person by September 1, 2023, will receive a free RTIC Lowball cup or Can Holder!  (These will be available for pick up @ registration check-in.)  Additionally, all In-Person Attendees who register and attend In-Person will be entered into a raffle drawing for an RTIC Ultra-Light 52 Maroon & White Cooler (Must be Present win).
