Master Naturalist Cheryl Folkes will be discussing plants for your yard that attract birds at the Heritage Gardeners in Friendswood meeting, October 1, 2026 at 9:30 am at 112 W. Spreading Oaks. Anyone interested may attend. Her presentation will be at 10:00 am.
Cheryl Folkes is a lifelong Texas gardener, with a passion for native plants. She has been a Texas Master Naturalist since 2010 and serves on the board of the Native Plant Society of Texas-Clear Lake Chapter. She also helps coordinate local grants for Pollinator Habitats in Public Spaces, with a focus on school habitats and serves on the state NPSOT Native Plants in Schools committee.
She has received certifications for Levels 1-4 of the NPSOT Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) as well as Native Landscape for Birds and assists with NLCP Level 1-Introduction to Native Landscapes.
Her home gardens provide bird friendly and pollinator habitat, currently a Certified Wildlife Habitat (National Wildlife Federation), a Monarch Waystation (Monarch Watch), a Pollinator Habitat (Xerces Society), and Certified Butterfly Garden (North American Butterfly Association) as well as being selected by Houston Audubon for Bird Friendly Yard of the Month.
